Flu shots urged for kids, teens

Government health officials are placing special emphasis on toddlers and teens during this year's flu season.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has expanded its priority list of people who should receive the influenza vaccine. Now, children between the ages of 6 months and 18 years have been put onto a list that includes pregnant women, people older than age 50 and anyone with a chronic medical condition.

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health plans to distribute 15,000 injectable doses in clinics that start Oct. 15. The department will work with county schools to offer free FluMist vaccines to students...
