Students at the North County Recreation Center, 196 Hammonds Lane, will have a chance to recycle their jewelry and create jewelry from old newspapers and magazines during classes offered in the next couple of months.

In the "Trash to Treasures" class, participants supply their own old piece of jewelry and learn to create a new necklace, bracelet, earrings or other decorative item from it.

The one-day class is for students ages 8 and older and for any skill level. The fee is $25.

Sessions will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 27 and Nov. 1.
