Brooklyn Park: Sept. 6 event to benefit Thamby children

The family and friends of Lesa Lynn Thamby will host a bull and oyster roast to benefit the Thamby Children Trust Fund from 2 to 6 p.m. Sept. 6 at La Fontaine Bleue, 7514 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie.
Mrs. Thamby was murdered in May 2007 by her husband, leaving behind three young children.

The roast also will include musical entertainment and prize wheels.

Summer picnic

Brooklyn Park Senior Center is hosting a summer picnic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 14 at Kurtz's Beach, 2070 Kurtz Ave., in Pasadena.

Tickets are $13. The menu includes beef barbecue, chicken legs, hot dogs, potato salad, macaroni salad, baked beans, watermelon and sheet cake.

Music will be provided by The Impacts. There will be dancing, door prizes, games and more.

Limited van transportation is available with pre-registration.

Frozen fundraiser

American Legion Post 187, located at 1527 Cherry St., will hold a Schwan's Food truck sale fundraiser from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

The company offers a variety of frozen foods, including ice cream, steaks, frozen dinners and more. People can pre-order, shop from what's on the truck or place an order to be delivered at a later date. The post will receive a portion of the sales.

For a catalog, stop by the post from noon to 10 p.m. through Friday.

All-day crop

Scrapbooking enthusiasts will enjoy the all-day crop from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 23 at North County Recreation Center, 196 Hammonds Lane in Brooklyn Park.

Mini-workshops will be held throughout the day by local scrapbooking and paper crafting experts.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Tickets costs $25.

St. Rose Class of '58

The St. Rose of Lima School's Class of 1958 will hold its 50-year reunion from 7 to 11 p.m. Sept. 27 at La Fountaine Bleue, 7514 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie.

Graduates, family and friends, as well as St. Rose of Lima School and Catholic Youth Organization alumni from the years 1956 to 1960, are all invited to attend.

Tickets are $60 and include hors d'oeuvres, a four-entree buffet dinner and open bar.

Tickets must be purchased no later than Sept. 12.
