OBITUARIES

Joyce Burke
Joyce M. Burke, 67, a 19-year resident of Linthicum and member of St. John Lutheran Church, died of cancer Aug. 1 at her home after a five-year illness.

Mrs. Burke was born Feb. 8, 1941, in Baltimore, to May Elizabeth Jackson of Edgemere and the late John Jackson.

She enjoyed spending time with her family as well as decorating, painting, drawing, cooking and making gift baskets.

Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Ronald Burke; one son, David Burke of Pasadena; one daughter, Kelley Hudson of Glen Burnie; one brother, John Jackson Jr. of Virginia; one sister, Margaret Kelly of Edgemere; and one grandchild.

Funeral services were held yesterday at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services. Interment is in Glen Haven Memorial Park.

Rubinette Dolan

Rubinette Lee "Ruby" Dolan, 92, a five-year resident of Pasadena and a packer for 16 years at Diamond International, died of pneumonia Aug. 2 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center after an eight-day illness.

Mrs. Dolan was born Aug. 24, 1915, in Virginia. She lived in Glen Burnie before moving to Pasadena.

She enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clayton Wright; her second husband, Joseph Dolan; two daughters, Dolores Johnson and Dorothy Dougherty; one brother, Harry Slater; and three sisters, Elizabeth Hodgson, Sadie Grimes and Virginia Jones.

Survivors include one daughter, Irene Fleishell of Pasadena; one brother, Earl Slater of Linthicum; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Gregory J. Gonce Funeral Home, 169 Riviera Drive in Pasadena. Interment in Glen Haven Memorial Park will follow at noon.

Leo Johnson Jr.

Leo D. "Pete" Johnson Jr., 81, a 55-year resident of Linthicum Heights and United States Postal Service carrier for 35 years, died Aug. 2 at his home.

Mr. Johnson was born Aug. 18, 1926, in Baltimore, to the late Leo D. and Josie Lee Byus Johnson Sr. He graduated from Southern High School in 1944.

He served in the Army from 1944 to 1947.

Mr. Johnson was a member of Pascal Senior Center's exercise class, American Legion Post 195 and the National Association of Letter Carriers.

He enjoyed bowling, coin collecting and television as well as the Orioles and Ravens.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lola Johnson Roemer; and one daughter, Stacy Lee Johnson Roemer.

Survivors include his wife of six years, Patricia Hall Johnson; one stepson, Robert M. Hall of Wilmington, Del.; one stepdaughter, Beverly Foote of Glen Burnie; one sister, Theresa Ellen Ellis of Pasadena; and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at McCully-Polyniak Funeral Home, 237 E. Patapsco Ave. in Brooklyn. Interment will follow at noon in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Elizabeth McNamara

Elizabeth J. McNamara, 74, of Chesterfield County, Va., and formerly of Pasadena, died Aug. 2 at Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond.

Mrs. McNamara was born July 2, 1934, in Queens, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. McNamara; and one granddaughter.

Survivors include three sons, John, Thomas and James McNamara; three daughters, Doreen Turco, Beverly Bajkowski and Mary Grove; her stepfather, Walter Strockbine; one brother, James Fox; one sister, Mary Martin; one stepbrother, Walter Strockbine; one stepsister, Susan Franklin; and 12 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, Va. Interment will be in Virginia Veterans Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia, Va.

Allan Miller

Allan Paul Miller, 92, a seven-year resident of Odenton and Army Air Corps veteran, died Aug. 1 at Crofton Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Miller was born Oct. 15, 1915, in Westernport, where he lived for 50 years. He also lived in Catonsville for 36 years prior to moving to Odenton. He graduated from Bluce High School in 1935.

He served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945, achieving the rank of staff sergeant.

Mr. Miller was employed at Celanese Corp. from 1937 to 1947 and Westvaco from 1948 to 1975. He also was a longtime employee for Sears Co. and E.J. Korvette, where he sold cameras.

He was a member of American Legion of Westernport and Chesapeake Antiquarian Photographic Society.

He enjoyed photography, woodworking, sailing and flying.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret Stephanie Miller.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Louise Miller; five sons, A. James Miller of Westminster, Thomas C. Miller of Odenton, Victor M. Miller of Seattle, John J. Miller of Linthicum and F. Patrick Miller of Pasadena; three daughters, Dorothy Louise Becker of Pasadena, Mary A. Miller of Baltimore and Nancy C. LaLeau of Gilroy, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial was offered yesterday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Thomas Cemetery in Keyser, W.Va. Arrangements are by Hardesty Funeral Home.

Helen Riley

A name was omitted from the obituary for Helen Elizabeth Riley, 53, of Glen Burnie, which was published in Saturday's Maryland Gazette.

Survivors also include her husband, Charles E. Riley.
