Glen Burnie East: 'Camp Meeting 2008' continues through weekend

Hall United Methodist Church, 7780 Solley Road, will continue its "Camp Meeting 2008, Year of Transformation," with several events this week.
The Rev. Otto Kent of Metropolitan United Methodist Church in Severn will speak at 7 p.m. tonight.

At 7 p.m. Friday, more than 100 children, youth and young adults will take part in the program "Jail House Rock, Breaking the Strong Holds That Have Them Bound!"

On Sunday at 10 a.m., the Rev. Patricia Allen of Hall United Methodist Church will be the speaker. Then, at 4 p.m. the Rev. Jessie Young Silas of First Baptist Church in Severna Park will speak.

Bible studies

Members of the community are invited to attend Bible studies at 9 a.m. Saturday and Aug. 23 at Glen Lutheran Church, 106 Carroll Road, in the Glen Gardens community.

Car wash

The Glen Burnie High School Music Boosters will wash cars for donations from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot at Bruster's Real Ice Cream, 80 Aquahart Road.

The boosters support both the instrumental and vocal music programs at the school.

Spanish class

Anne Arundel Community College's Continuing Education and Workforce Development program will offer Beginning Spanish Two as a noncredit class at Glen Burnie High School from 7 to 9:15 p.m. on Mondays starting Oct. 6.

The class fee is $159 for county residents ages 16 and older.

Discounts may be available for Maryland residents ages 60 and older or those certified as retired for disability by the Social Security Administration.

Small additional fees will be charged to out-of-county and out-of-state residents. The class will develop conversational skills by emphasizing practical vocabulary for use in day-to-day situations.

The school is located at 7550 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. The class will meet in the industrial arts building, which is parallel to the parking lot on the Kuethe Road side of the campus. To register or for details, call 410-777-2325 or visit www.aacc.edu/coned.
