Mr. and Mrs. Max Powers of Harundale recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
The former Shirley Stonesifer and Max Powers were married on July 12, 1958, in a ceremony performed by the Rev. John Kehoe at St. Mark's Evangelical and Reformed Lutheran Church in Baltimore.
Mr. Powers retired in 1990 from the Baltimore City Fire Department after more than 33 years of service. He was also known as the "Voice of the Gophers" at Glen Burnie High School for 30 years.
Mr. Powers retired from her work at Kelly Services in 2000. She enjoys volunteering at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
The couple belongs to Brooklyn Park United Brethren in Christ Church and have lived in Harundale for 47 years.
The Powers have one son, Michael Powers of Perry Hall and Susan Rosenwald of Harundale; and five grandchildren.
