The Baltimore Washington Medical Center will host the following free screenings and discussions during August:
A certified diabetes educator from the Joslin Diabetes Center will present "Summertime: Staying Hydrated" from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Amedisys Home Health will offer blood pressure screenings from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday and Aug. 19.
Podiatrist Jenny Nguyen will offer foot screenings from 8 to 10 a.m. Aug. 14 and 28.
Bartlinski Chiropractic will offer computerized back and neck screenings from 8 to 10 a.m. Aug. 15 and 22.
Representatives from the county Department of Aging will be available to answer questions about its services from 8 to 10 a.m. Aug. 18.
All screenings are free and do not require appointments.
The center is located between Dave and Buster's and mall entrance 4 at Arundel Mills in Hanover.

People can take their own games to play or use those provided. This event is for families of all ages.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8097 Ladies Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The VFW Post 8097 members will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 13.

Open house
The staff and guests of Sarah's House, a supportive housing program for homeless men, women and children, invite the public to an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 9 at the facility at 2015 20th St., Fort George G. Meade.
The event will give the public and those who have been supporters of the facility a chance to see what it is all about. There will be refreshments and tours during the open house.
