A video game store on Ritchie Highway was robbed by an armed man Saturday night, county police said.
Just before 8:50 p.m. a man with a black, semiautomatic handgun walked into the Game Stop store at 6619 Ritchie Highway and demanded money from the register. He took the cash and ran east toward the Motor Vehicle Administration, police said.
Officers, including a K-9 unit and helicopter unit, searched the area but could not find him.
He is described as dark skinned with facial hair, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, 240 pounds, and from 35 to 40 years old. He was wearing a white polo shirt with black and blue stripes, blue shorts and a tan baseball hat.
Employee charged
County police last week charged an employee at the Pep Boys store on Ritchie Highway with stealing $2,425.
On July 16, a security officer from the store at 7311 Ritchie Highway told police that an internal investigation found employee Shafique Anwar Khan, 20, of Columbia, made 10 fraudulent returns and kept the money between June 28 and July 16.
Mr. Khan signed a statement admitting to making the returns and keeping the money, police said.
Mr. Khan was charged with theft scheme over $500 and 10 counts of theft under $500.
Toilets stolen
Someone stole two toilets and other fixtures worth $4,700 from a home under construction on the 7400 block of Hummingbird Drive sometime between July 11 and July 14, county police said.
The thieves came in the front door using a key or through an unsecured window and stole two toilets, a gas furnace and an air conditioner. Police are looking for two or three suspects, police said.
Motors stolen
Two motors were reported stolen last week from a 14-foot fishing boat in the 1500 block of Furnace Avenue, county police said.
The Johnson 7 horsepower outboard engine and an electric motor were valued at $1,200.
The owner told police that they were taken from his Gamefisher while he was out of the house, police said.

Jewelry stolen
Residents at a home on the 400 block of Little Marvel court say $6,272 worth of jewelry were discovered missing on July 15, county police said.
The owner said his wife's engagement ring, wedding band and tennis bracelet were all missing, police said.
