The Jessup Improvement Association will hold its quarterly membership meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Jessup Community Hall, on the corner of Route 175 and Wigley Avenue.
Guest speaker Gary D. Maynard, secretary of the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, will give a presentation on facility programs and community initiatives and partnerships.
Residents are encouraged to attend this meeting to ask questions or voice concerns.

Epiphany chapel
The annual yard, book and bake sale at Epiphany Episcopal Church, 1419 Odenton Road, will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 16.
Hot dogs, lemonade and home-baked goods will be available for purchase while people browse through the treasures of books, crafts, and other yard sale finds.
Proceeds will help fund the church's community outreach projects.
The church is also looking for donations of books and yard sale items, which will be accepted from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 15.

Shop for a cause

The West County library, 1325 Annapolis Road in Odenton, will presents its last event for this summer's reading program.
"Unleash the Magic of Reading!" will take stage at 1:30, 3:30 and 7 p.m. today. The program features master magicians who bring popular children's books to life through the art of illusions. This program is for all ages.
Learn Microsoft Word basics with the help of a library computer lab assistant from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. The class provides time for instruction, practice and personal assistance. Participants need to take a diskette or USB drive to save their class work.
