Karyn Lynn Searle Boogar, 43, a 15-year resident of Glen Burnie and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, died of cystic fibrosis July 21 at Delaware Hospice after a 15-year illness.
Ms. Boogar was born June 3, 1965, in Chicago, to William and Sharon M. Lajter Searle of Delaware.
She worked as an administrative assistant.
Ms. Boogar enjoyed her music, watching sports with her boys, crafts, writing and drawing. She was a sunbathing enthusiast and an avid fan of Coca-Cola and sweets. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include three sons, Matthew, Christopher and Patrick Boogar of Florida; one brother, William Searle of Florida; and two sisters, Kimberly Rodey of Ferndale and Kristine Mansfield of Glen Burnie.

Laura Boyer
Laura L. Boyer, 90, a four-year resident of Hanover and formerly a private-duty nurse for St. Agnes Hospital, died of natural causes July 20 at Morningside Assisted Living.
Ms. Boyer was born Aug. 10, 1917, in Maryland. She resided in Millersville for 35 years before moving to Hanover.
She was the longest living member of the Severn United Methodist Church as well as a member of the Severn Seniors.
Ms. Boyer enjoyed flowers, gardening and reading.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Roland and Alton Boyer.

Thelma Clark
Thelma E. Clark, 62, a lifetime resident of Severn and a packer at Ace Worldwide Atlas Van Lines, died July 17 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
Mrs. Clark was born March 24, 1946, in Annapolis, to the late William Thomas and Thelma Hardesty Wood.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, and gardening. She also enjoyed listening to country music and taking rides in the country.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sarah A. Zahner.
Survivors include her husband, Bernard E. Clark; one son, Michael Zahner of Baltimore; one daughter, Thelma E. Clark of Glen Burnie; one brother, Frank A. Wood of Millersville; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held yesterday at Kirkley-Ruddick Funeral Home. Interment is in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
Adriana Cox
Adriana Cox, 84, a resident of Glen Burnie since 1960 and an Italian immigrant, died of natural causes July 19 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Cox was born Oct. 10, 1923, in Siena, Italy, to the late Avrelio and Isola Banini Paolini. She become a United States citizen in 1953.
A homemaker, she enjoyed spending time with people as well as cooking, sewing, needlepoint, painting and flower gardening. She was always known for keeping an open home for family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Retired Army Master Sergeant Ernest Ebler; and her second husband, Retired Navy Chief Petty Officer John Cox.
Survivors include one son, James Ebler of Glen Burnie; one daughter, Yvonne Cartocci of Siena; one stepdaughter, Carolyn Jacob of Virginia; one sister, Lilliana Broccolino of Timonium; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Bryant K. "Junior" Elliott Jr., 37, an 11-year resident of Marion, previously of Baltimore and a residential construction worker, died July 17 in Baltimore.
Mr. Elliott was born May 13, 1971, in Baltimore, to Bryant K. Elliott Sr. of Glen Burnie and the late Maxine Hicks.
He was a member of the Church of God in Baltimore.
Mr. Elliott enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and telling jokes.
He was preceded in death by one brother, David Elliott.
Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Heather Elliott; two sons, Ryan and Corey Elliott of Marion; two daughters, Kayla and Amber Elliott of Marion; his stepparents, Debbie Hicks of Glen Burnie and William Hicks of Marion; one brother, Jamie Elliott of Glen Burnie; two sisters, Christine Lemaster of Elkton and Ashley Elliott of Glen Burnie; and his grandfather, Norman "Pop" Hicks of Salisbury.

Joseph Fisher
Joseph Samuel Fisher, 75, a resident of Glen Burnie and an electronics technician for Westinghouse for 38 years, died July 14 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
Mr. Fisher was born Oct. 20, 1932, in Baltimore, to the late David and Esther Kathryan Merrick Fisher.
He served in the Air Force 1951 to 1955, attaining the rank of airman first class.
Mr. Fisher enjoyed helping others and playing online golf.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Lee Fisher; two sons, Dave Fisher of Centreville and Charles Fisher of Parkville; one daughter, Donna L. Rowe of Bear, Del.; two stepsons, Robert Martin of Wisconsin and Kevin Martin of North Carolina; three stepdaughters, Sherry Borgos of Florida, Nancy Sickler of Wisconsin and Delores Brown of Maryland; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary Hall
Mary Kay Hall, 59, a 35-year resident of Glen Burnie and county school teacher, died June 24 at FutureCare Chesapeake after a long illness.
Ms. Hall was born Aug. 15, 1948, in Pittsburgh, Pa. She graduated from Baldwin High School in 1960. She earned he degree in elementary education and a minor in history from the University of Pennsylvania.
She was teacher for 34 years at Point Pleasant Elementary and Quarterfield Elementary schools.
Ms. Hall was the former choir director at Ferndale United Methodist Church and a member of the Retired Teacher's Association.
Considered by those who knew her to be a great friend and neighbor, she enjoyed volunteering at food drives and the Chesapeake Arts Center. She also enjoyed traveling, watching plays and musicals, animals, exercising, playing the piano and collecting knick-knacks.
Survivors include one brother, Chuck Lechner of Pittsburgh.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 16 at Ferndale United Methodist Church, 117 Ferndale Road. Interment is private. Arrangements are by Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services.

Clyde L. "Butch" Harris Jr., 70, a 34-year resident of Pasadena and a truck driver for McCall Trucking in Essex for the last two years, died July 18 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center
Mr. Harris was born May 20, 1938, in Baltimore.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, visiting Civil War battlefields and "Maryland's Haunted History."
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Darlene J. Harris; one son, Robert Harris of Baltimore; two daughters, Darlene Jones of Riviera Beach and Elizabeth Henton of Annapolis; four brothers; three sisters; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Sylvia Jacobsen
Sylvia Sue Jacobsen, 76, of Bel Air, formerly of Brooklyn and a 1949 graduate of Catholic High School, died July 21 at her home.
Mrs. Jacobsen was born Jan. 19, 1932, in Louisville, Ky., to the late George and Rose Schirmer. As a schoolgirl, they moved to Baltimore, where she attended St. Anthony's Catholic School. After marrying her husband in 1951, they made their home in Brooklyn for 26 years before moving to Bel Air in 1978.
A homemaker and an artist, she also enjoyed gardening, reading and working on puzzles. She especially enjoyed nature and her family.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Rose Adams and Patricia Jean Rubie.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred Jacobsen; one son, Robert Christian Jacobsen of Pasadena; six daughters, Barbara Leigh Pine and Susan Alison Jacobs of Baltimore, Julia Ann McHale of Hollywood, Fla., Amy Christine Jacobsen and Nancy Lynne Hoch of Forest Hill and Jennifer Mary Bolton of Pasadena; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Margaret Keggins
Margaret Helen Keggins, 86, a 39-year resident of Glen Burnie and former wireless operator in the Canadian Army during World War II, died of natural causes July 17 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
Mrs. Keggins was born July 15, 1922, in Canada, to the late Leo and Emma Thompson.
She was a member of St. Bernadette's Parish.
Mrs. Keggins was a Civil War buff and Western movie fan as well as an avid reader of mysteries and the "Harry Potter" novels. A Baltimore Orioles fan who enjoyed spending time with her family, she also enjoyed crafts, painting, sewing, playing cards, especially rummy and solitaire.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Kendrick Thompson.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Alfred G. Keggins; four sons, Theodore Keggins of Florida, Francis Keggins of Maine and Brian and Gregory Keggins of Maryland; three daughters, Kathleen Sybert of Pennsylvania, Christine Fitch and Mahala Stansfield of Maryland; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Betty Jane Klima
Betty Jane "B.J." Guilfoy Klima, 82, a resident of Ocean City, formerly of Glen Burnie and an expert quilter, died of cancer July 19 at her home.
Mrs. Klima was born Feb. 3, 1926, in Baltimore. A 1943 graduate of Glen Burnie High School, she lived in Glen Burnie before she and her husband become year-round residents of Ocean City in 1985. She also lived in Berlin.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Ocean City. She also was a community volunteer, working at the Berlin Library and the Atlantic General Hospital Gift Shop. She also belonged to a Yellow Hat social group.
A homemaker, she enjoyed designing and making quilts for family and friends, especially for expectant mothers. She enjoyed getting together with other quilters to talk and tie quilts for the local domestic violence shelter. Her quilts have hung in the Berlin Library. She enjoyed her high school class reunions and was known for her generous spirit and her lacy oatmeal cookies.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Klima, who died in 1995; and by one grandson, Scotte Klima.
Survivors include four sons, Glenn E. Klima of Milton, W.Va., Craig J. Klima, Kurt A. Klima of Orlando, Fla., and Scott A Klima of Odenton; and two granddaughters.

Joseph Moran
Joseph Donald "Don" Moran, 78, a lifelong resident of Brooklyn Park and a 40-year employee of Whitman, Requardt and Associates of Baltimore, died suddenly of heart failure July 20 at Harbor Hospital.
Mr. Moran was born Oct. 6, 1929, in Baltimore. He earned a two-year degree in drafting.
He served in Army in Germany during the 1950s as a private first class.
Mr. Moran enjoyed gardening, photography, baseball and bird watching.
He was preceded in death in December 2000 by his wife, Jessie "Pat" Moran.
Survivors include two sons, John Patrick Moran of Annapolis and Brandt Scott Moran of Pepperell, Mass.; and one brother, Chic Moran of Arbutus.

Thomas Newbrough Sr.
Thomas "Tom" Newbrough Sr., 75, a 20-year resident of Juno Beach, Fla. and formerly a Glen Burnie High School athletic director, died July 13 at his home.
Mr. Newbrough was born Dec. 19, 1932, in Fairmont, W.Va., where he also attended college, earning his bachelor's degree in education from Fairmont State University. He earned his master's degree in education from West Virginia University. An avid sports fan all his life, he excelled in athletics. He earned All-American Honors as a high school quarterback and briefly played football for the University of Michigan and Texas A&M.
He served in the Navy during the Korean War, serving on an aircraft carrier and earning the distinction of being named Honor Man of his class. Enlisted in the Navy during the Korean War. Named Honor Man of his class. Served on an aircraft carrier; His athletic prowess came in handy there, too, as he played on the Navy inter-service football, basketball and baseball teams.
From 1965 to 1980, Mr. Newbrough served as a coach and physical education teacher at Glen Burnie High School, and as the school's athletic director during the 1970s.
He was preceded in death in 1991 by his wife, Kathryn Hackett Newbrough.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Newbrough Jr. of Annapolis and Barry Newbrough of Pasadena; two daughters, Linda Newbrough Brice of Annapolis and Nancy Newbrough D'Imperio of Arnold;
one brother, Donley Newbrough, of Fairmont; and seven grandchildren.

Carroll Patten
Carroll J. Patten, 72, a resident of Ridgely for five years and a Korean War Army veteran, died of complications of cancer July 20 at Easton Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Patten was born Dec. 10, 1935, in Baltimore, to the late William and Delores Patten. He we was raised in Severna Park, where he lived for more than 60 years before moving to Ridgely.
He was a retired job superintendent for Martin G. Imbach Marine Construction Co., where he worked for 25 years.
A member of the National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited, Mr. Patten enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Mae Patten.
Survivors include one son, Mark B. Patten of Ridgely; one daughter, Lisa C. Schell of Pasadena; one brother, John B. Hewitt of Ridgely; two sisters, Linda Wiseman of Cordova and Judith Walters of Ellicott City; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Bobbie Risso
Bobbie Jean Risso, 65, a 35-year resident of Baltimore and 10-year employee at Zentech Manufacturing Co., died of lung cancer July 18 at Season's Hospice after a seven-month illness.
Mrs. Risso was born May 17, 1943, in Westport, to the late Robert and Esther Turnbull.
While employed, she soldered printed circuit boards.
She enjoyed fishing and feeding birds, squirrels and stray animals. She enjoyed all animals, and was known for her flower garden.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis Barricota and Shirley Smith.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Karl Angelo Risso; two sons, Frank Risso of Brooklyn Park and Scott Risso of Gambrills; two daughters, Vickie Wood of Brooklyn and Brenda Danser of Denton; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

John Rose
John Buford Rose, 42, a resident of Columbia, formerly of Glen Burnie, and former tank crewman in the Marine Corps during Operation Desert Storm, died July 17 at Howard County General Hospital of complications sustained from a spinal cord injury while scuba diving in 1991.
Mr. Rose was born April 19, 1966, in Baltimore, to Buford Rose of Glen Burnie and the late L. Lorainne Rose. He was a graduate of Glen Burnie High School.
He served in the Marine Corps from 1987 to 1991 and was decorated with the Rifle Sharpshooter and Pistol Expert badges, National Defense Service Medal and Southwest Asia Service Medal.
Mr. Rose enjoyed computers and was known as a computer whiz.
Survivors include his stepmother, Jackie Rose of Glen Burnie; three stepbrothers, Howard Denton of Baltimore, Bill Sengebusch of Catonsville and Scott Sengebusch of Tyner, N.C.; and four stepsisters, Linda J. Deepe of Chester, Carolyn Reno of Taneytown, Lori Deeley of Corona, Calif., and Mary Jane Moore of Orlando, Fla.

Norman Stead
Norman Albert Stead, 77, of Annapolis and a medic in the Korean War, died July 20 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Mr. Stead was born June 27, 1931, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Albert and Amanda Stead.
He worked for the National Security Agency, AT&T and then, for 30 years, he managed the physics laboratory at the Naval Academy. He retired in 2000.
Mr. Stead was a founding member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Arnold, and served on the church council and sang in the chancel choir for many years.
He was an avid handball and racquetball player who ran two JFK ultra marathons. He enjoyed flying his own plane for many years and traveling abroad with his wife to such places as China, Australia, Europe and Newfoundland. Mr. Stead especially enjoyed being with his family, and enjoyed cooking. A passionate reader, his interests ranged from the study of religion and meditation to conspiracy and espionage novels.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Ingrid Stead, one son, Christopher A. Stead of Pasadena; one daughter, Karen A. Nelson of Crownsville; one brother, Herbert Stead of New York; two sisters, Alice Le Sueur of New York and Isabelle Mourot of Louisiana; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Betty Woodall
Betty J. Woodall, 81, a 20-year resident of Riviera Beach and owner of Betty's Beauty Salon in Glen Burnie for over 25 years, died July 18 at FutureCare Chesapeake.
Mrs. Woodall was born Nov. 29, 1926, in Baltimore. She was a 1943 graduate of Catonsville High School. She previously lived in Fort Myers, Fla., before moving to Pasadena.
A beautician, she owned her own beauty salon for over 25 years.
She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 29 in Odenton.
Mrs. Woodall enjoyed fishing.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Johnny Woodall; and one brother, Lloyd Lilly Jr.
Survivors include one son, John W. Woodall of Annapolis; one daughter, Deborah Minighini of Baltimore; two sisters, Sally A. Lilly of Catonsville and Dorothy Kiss of Ellicott City; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Margaret Wray, 94, a resident of Glen Burnie since 2001 and an egg candler for over 40 years, died of natural causes July 21 at Marley Neck Health and Rehabilitation after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Wray was born June 4, 1914, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Rudolph and Elizabeth Baldeweg.
She worked for the H.C. Bohack Egg Co.
Mrs. Wray enjoyed reading, dancing, square dancing and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Wray, who died in July 1964; one brother, Rudolph Baldeweg; and one sister, Elsie Wunsch.
Interment is private. Arrangements are by Kirkley-Ruddick Funeral Home.
