OBITUARIES

Mary Barlock
Mary Jane Barlock, 65, a resident of Severna Park, formerly of Pasadena, and a systems analyst for the Social Security Administration, died July 7 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Mrs. Barlock was born June 30, 1943, in Annapolis, to the late Charles and Louise Derringer Gerkin.

She began her career at the Social Security Administration at the age of 17 and stayed until she retired.

Mrs. Barlock enjoyed spending time with her family, taking cruises and a good debate.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald J. Barlock; and one brother, Johnny Gerkin Jr.

Survivors include one daughter, Tina M. Morris of Severna Park; one brother, Charles Gerkin Jr. of Arnold; five sisters, Gloria Trapp, Darlene Call, Helena Davies and Lee Demota, all of Glen Burnie and Bee Hannon of Liberty, Maine; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services and interment are private. Arrangements are by Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Cremation and Funeral Care.

George Bilenki

George Joseph Bilenki, 78, a 49-year resident of Glen Burnie and auto shop owner, died of cancer July 14 at his home after a one and half year illness.

Mr. Bilenki was born Feb. 10, 1930, in Curtis Bay. After raising his children, he returned to complete his high school diploma at the age of 45. He graduated from Andover High School.

He was a machinist mechanic for Canton Railroad, Revere Copper and Brass and Westinghouse.

Mr. Bilenki was a member of Glen Burnie Moose 1456, United Railroad Workers, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Considered a gentle and kind man to those who knew him, he enjoyed dancing, singing and tinkering with motors. He also enjoyed the Looney Tunes cartoons, especially Wile E. Coyote and Yosemite Sam.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, John, Paul, Pete, Michael "Mitch" and James "Jeep" Bilenki.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Elsie C. Bilenki; one son, George Bilenki of Virginia; four daughters, Margaret Hood of Glen Burnie, Sharon Weaver of Severn, Susie Baker of Arnold and Donna Early of Washington state; two brothers, Tony and Will Bilenki of Brooklyn Park; one sister, Helen Weishaar of Ferndale; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held yesterday at St. Alban's Episcopal Church. Interment is in Glen Haven Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services.

Lillian Burns

Lillian Mae Burns, 79, a 42-year resident of Pasadena and homemaker, died of natural causes July 13 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

Mrs. Burns was born June 13, 1929, in Baltimore.

She enjoyed playing cards and bingo.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Alfred Joseph Burns; one brother, Edward Heller; and one sister, Mary Lee Brock.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Bayne of Dundalk and Billy and Donald Muncy of Pasadena; one daughter, Sandy Moroz of Dundalk; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday at McCully-Polyniak Funeral Home. Interment is in Moreland Memorial Park.

Danielle Feather

Danielle Nicole "Nicki" Feather, 25, a lifelong resident of Pasadena and transporter for Baltimore Washington Medical Center, died July 16 at BWMC after a four-year illness.

Ms. Feather was born May 23, 1983, in Maryland, to Jamie W. and Kimberly A. Feather of Pasadena. She was attending Anne Arundel Community College to become a nurse.

She enjoyed going to the beach, taking care of her family and going places with her little sister.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harold and Donna Feather and Daniel Christopher Kincer Sr.

Survivors include one brother, Jamie Wayne Francis Feather of Pasadena; one sister, Hannah Noel Feather of Pasadena; and her grandmother, Emma Noel of Brooklyn.

Family and friends may visit from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at McCully-Polyniak Funeral Home, 3204 Mountain Road in Pasadena.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd., in Elkridge.

Maryann Grimm

Maryann Elizabeth Grimm, 56, a resident of Severn since 1982 and warehouse worker for International Truck Parts, died suddenly of natural causes July 16 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

Mrs. Grimm was born Aug. 5, 1951 in Maryland. She lived in Marley prior to moving to Severn.

She enjoyed bingo, lottery and slots, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Daniel Branham.

Survivors include her husband of 20 years, William J. Grimm; one daughter, Roxann E. Smith in Severn; two sisters, Janet Henry of Glen Burnie and Alberta Bennett of East Flatrock, N.C.; and three grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow at Kirkley-Ruddick Funeral Home, 421 Crain Highway S.E. in Glen Burnie.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Interment in Glen Haven Memorial Park will follow at noon.

Daniel Halley

Daniel S. Halley, 46, recently of Interlachen, Fla., and formerly a longtime resident of Millersville, died July 10 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Halley was born July 28, 1961, in Baltimore, to David and Anna Halley of Interlachen.

He was employed for 15 years with the state road department in Anne Arundel County.

Survivors three brothers, David A. Halley III of Interlachen, Steven G. Halley of Millersville and Joseph M. Halley of Pasadena.

Funeral services are private. Arrangements are by Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka, Fla.

Joan Lomash

Joan Phyllis Lomash, 78, a 14-year resident of Millersville and retired Woolworth's employee, died of natural causes July 14 at Harbor Hospital.

Mrs. Lomash was born June 15, 1930, in Orange, N.J. She lived in Glen Burnie before moving to Millersville.

She retired in 1995 from Woolworth's human resources department.

Mrs. Lomash enjoyed collecting, especially Hallmark ornaments and Hummel figurines. She also enjoyed cooking, shopping and bingo.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Edward F. Lomash Sr.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Lomash and Edward Lomash Jr. of Millersville; two daughters, Virginia Bower of Glen Burnie and Jacqueline Davis of Millersville; two sisters, Virginia Gail Hoffman of Florida and Madeline Carole Vozzo of New Jersey; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held yesterday at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services. Interment is in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.

Donna Otto

Donna Otto, 59, a resident of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and former Sunday school teacher, died July 14 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Otto was born Aug. 7, 1948, in Baltimore, to Doris Marshall Holmes of North Myrtle Beach and the late Calvin F. Holmes.

She was a member of Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church where she belonged to the Ladies Circle.

She was an avid quilter and also taught vacation Bible school.

Survivors include her husband, Vernon Otto of North Myrtle Beach; two sons, Bretton Otto of North Myrtle Beach and Dustin Otto of Goldsboro; one daughter, Lani Small of Millersville; and one sister, Debra Wolf of North Myrtle Beach.

Funeral services were held of Thursday at Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church. Interment is in Southeastern Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Lee Funeral Home and Crematory.

Ruth Smalley

Ruth Evelyn Smalley, 90, a resident of Glen Burnie since 1994 and Glen Burnie United Methodist Church, died of natural causes July 14 at her home after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Smalley was born Sept. 16, 1917, in Camden, N.J., to the late Morris and Annie Linthicum Potter.

She was a maintenance staff supervisor at The Georgian, a home for the aged in Evanston, Ill., She retired at the age of 62 after eight years of service.

She was also a member of the Glen Burnie United Methodist Women.

She enjoyed her church and Bible study, and gave presentations for women's groups because of her knowledge of the Bible, which she read 46 times. She also enjoyed traveling to the homes of family and friends and caring family members in need. She also enjoyed caring for her home and reading.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Stimson Smalley, whom she married in 1938; two daughters, Lorraine Smalley and Ruth Ann Stone; and two sisters, Arthetta Nicholson and Margaret Berryann.

Survivors include one son, Ronald Smalley of Glen Burnie; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday at Kirkley-Ruddick Funeral Home. Interment is private.

Harold Yates

Harold William Yates, 76, a 37-year resident of Glen Burnie and a member of Arundel Christian Church, died July 16 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

Mr. Yates was born Nov. 3, 1931, in Baltimore, where he also lived prior to moving to Glen Burnie.

He served in the Navy in the mid-1950s.

Mr. Yates retired from his job in advertising displays for Kronheim Co. in Baltimore, where he worked from 1964 to 1993.

Mr. Yates enjoyed talk radio and antique cars, especially his 1968 Crown Superior hearse.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Norma Yates Sudler Wilson.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Annie M. Yates; one daughter, Kim Yates of Rosedale; two brothers, Joseph "Buddy" Yates of Catonsville and Gilbert Yates of Atlanta, Ga.; and Dorothy Yates of Albuquerque, N.M.

Family and friends may visit from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Road in Pasadena

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment in Lorraine Park Cemetery will follow services.
