West County: Summer fun scheduled at St. Bernadette's next month | Maryland Gazette (HometownGlenBurnie.com)

On July 5, the church will begin a "Super Summer 50-50 Giveaway" to be held each weekend after all Masses for the next seven weeks. Each week only 100 tickets will be sold. On Aug. 31, one ticket will be drawn and the winner will receive half of the money collected from the ticket sales. If all 100 tickets are sold each of the seven weeks the prize would be $5,000.

The church needs volunteers to help Arundel Habitat for Humanity to assist with construction in the Brooklyn area.

Volunteers also are needed to work with the Associated Catholic Center. Starting in August, groups of five to 10 women will provide or serve one meal a month at My Sister's Place Women's Center, a day shelter for homeless women.

The Summer Fun Drop-In will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the parish picnic area. This event is for middle- and high school-aged children. Hot dogs, hamburgers and snacks will be available.

Scheduled activities include volleyball, Frisbee, bocce and more.

People interested in attending may sign up in the church gallery. Though advance sign-up is not required, registrations will help organizers ensure enough food is provided.
