Every year, the family and friends of David "Pop" Warner get together and hold the "Pop Trot," a run to raise money for baseball and children as a way to honor his life and legacy, and this year is no exception. The 5K run and 1-mile fun walk will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, rain or shine at Downs Memorial Park, 8311 John Downs Loop.
The registration fee is $15; registrations will be held from 8 to 8:45 a.m.

On Jan. 18, 1999, the beloved county teacher, coach, mentor and loyal friend was killed in a tragic accident in Nags Head, N.C.
