West county: Summer events need vendors and volunteers

Many community groups are planning annual fundraisers and festivals for the summer months ahead. Some are seeking volunteers and vendors to help make each event a success.
The Ladies Auxiliary for the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company is looking for vendors for its annual community flea market which will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 7. The event will be held at its fire hall at 1425 Annapolis Road.

The cost is $15 for one table or $25 for two tables.

All proceeds will benefit the company's Ladies Auxiliary.

The Seven Improvement Association will sponsor the annual Queenstown Day celebration July 12 at Queenstown Park. The association needs participants for its parade scheduled from noon to 2 p.m.

Units needed include marching bands, steppers, antique cars and vans and more.

Wesley Grove United Methodist Church, 1320 Dorsey Road in Hanover, will hold its 32nd annual atrawberry festival from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine June 7.

This event includes crab cakes and pit ham, strawberry desserts, a bake table featuring homemade pies, cakes and cookies, games and activities, and music at 11 a.m. provided by Benefit Brass Band.

Space is available for vendors, crafters or flea market goods.

Jessup Improvement

The Jessup Improvement Association board of directors will mee at7:30 p.m., Monday, at the Jessup Community Hall Route 175 at Wigley Avenue.

Knights of Columbus

The St. Bernadette Council 11214 of the Knights of Columbus will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday and May 19, in the conference room of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 801 Stevenson Road, Severn.

VFW meetings

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8097, 7209 Montevideo Road in Jessup, will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday

The VFW Post 8097 will meet at the post hall at 7 p.m. May 14.

Choir anniversary

The Wesleyan Choir of Metropolitan United Methodist Church will celebrate its 41st anniversary at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow.

There will be ministries from the surrounding areas joining in the celebration.

Dog day at Provinces

Reading goes to the dogs at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Provinces library, 2624 Annapolis Road, Severn.

Meet members, both human and canine, of Karma Dogs, a nonprofit organization that improves people's lives with the use of therapy dogs.

The group will demonstrate their reading program, Help Encourage All Readers to Succeed. The HEARTS program is designed to help children ages 5 and up become confident readers.
