West County: Two Easter egg hunts scheduled for today

The Jessup Improvement Association will sponsor an Easter egg hunt from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the Jessup Community Hall, Route 175 and Wigley Avenue in Jessup.
There will be pictures with the Easter Bunny, egg hunt prizes, refreshments and goodie bags for children ages infants to 12 years. This event is free. Participants are asked to take along a bag or basket to hold the goodies.

The hunt will start at 1 p.m.

The Provinces Civic Association will host its annual Easter egg hunt today at Lake Marion Park on Citadel Drive.

Registration will be from 1 to 2 p.m. with the hunt beginning at 2 p.m. The sponsors request a donation of $1 per child.

The rain date will be tomorrow.

Harmans meeting

The Harmans Civic Association will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Harmans Community Room at Arundel Mills mall.

John Stewart from BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport will brief the membership on current and planned airport activities. Also the election of officers is on the agenda.

Residents of Hanover and Harmans are encouraged to take their ideas and concerns to these meetings.

Membership is $5 annually for community residents. The HCA's general boundaries are Stoney Run Road to the north, the Baltimore Washington Parkway to the west, Severn Road to the south and the Amtrak tracks to the east.

The meeting room entrance is adjacent to the Coca-Cola bottle entrance, which goes into the food court. Enter from the outside at the second door from the left in the blue section.

SES fundraiser

Tickets are still available for the Severn Elementary PTA fundraiser, dinner and show featuring Jim Parsley in "Memories of Elvis."

The event will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on April 12 at the Heritage Community Church Grand Hall, 8146 Quarterfield Road in Severn.

Tickets are $25 for the show and dinner. The menu will include baked chicken, roast beef, mashed potatoes, vegetable medley, salad, breads, lemonade, tea, coffee and dessert.

Proceeds will go toward media and classroom supplies for Severn Elementary School.

The deadline for ordering tickets is March 31.

Math night

Parents, students and families are invited to Meade Middle School's math night from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

School officials will transform the cafeteria into a math fun house with math games and quizzes as well as pizza, drinks and cake. Door prizes will be given out thought the festivities.

Tickets are $1.

Meade Middle School is located at 1103 26th Street on Fort George G. Meade.

Friendship Civitan Club

The Friendship Civitan Club will host a luncheon meeting at noon Thursday at Opportunity Builders Inc., 7509 Connelley Drive in Hanover.

The club is a chapter of the Glen Burnie Civitan Club. Members participate in monthly service projects.

Garden club

The Meade Area Garden Club will sponsor a bus trip to the Hillwood Museum and Gardens in Washington, D.C., on April 30.

The bus will leave the Ridgeview Shopping Center on Route 175 in Odenton at 8:30 a.m. and return at 4:30 p.m. The cost is $55 for Meade Area Garden Club members and $60 for non-members.

Reservations are required and must be paid by April 9 with no refunds after that date.

The tickets cover the bus ride, a garden tour, house tour and lunch at the Hillwood Cafe.
