Pasadena: Downs Park prepares for spring craft fair

With spring knocking on the door, officials at Downs Memorial Park, 8311 John Downs Loop, are beginning preparations for their annual spring craft fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 19.
Crafters can rent one space for $30 or two spaces for $50. All items sold must be handmade by the applicant.

The park is also in need of volunteers for this event.

Shrimp, bull roast

The Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company, 161 Ritchie Highway, is selling tickets for its shrimp and bull roast that will be held from 7 p.m. to midnight on April 12.

Tickets are $26 in advance or $30 at the door. The menu will include shrimp, pit beef, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, green beans, cheese and crackers, a vegetable tray, cake, beer, sodas and coffee. Diners may bring their own beverages, too.

Entertainment will be provided by a disc jockey from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Council meeting

Rob Fish, an Anne Arundel County recycling project specialist from the Waste Management Division, will be the guest speaker at the Greater Pasadena Council's meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Everyone is invited to attend the meeting, which will be held at the Eastern District Police Station, 3700 Mountain Road.

Bull, oyster roast

The Long Point Improvement Association is selling tickets for its annual bull and oyster roast from 7 p.m. to midnight on April 5 at the community hall, 1534 Long Point Road.

Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door.

Food will be provided by Atlantic Catering and the menu will include pit beef, fresh ham, country-smoked ham, oysters on the half shell, homemade oyster stew, wings, sausage with peppers and onions, sauerkraut and kielbasa, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes with gravy, taco salad, tossed green salad, fruit and vegetable trays, dessert table, draft beer, soda, tea and coffee.

The entertainment will be provided by a disc jockey, and there will be a money wheel, 50/50, door prizes and more.

Library stories

Mountain Road library, 4730 Mountain Road, invites children ages 2 to 5 years and their parents to listen to favorite stories at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Parents or caregivers must stay with children ages 2 and 3, while a guardian for the older children must be in the library during the event.

Adults are invited to take some of their mysteries to the library at 7 p.m. on Tuesday to share with others. The library's resident mystery guru will be on hand to discuss and share a number of her favorite stories with the group.

Cooperstown dreams

The Pasadena Eagles 12U travel team will hold a golfing benefit at Patuxent Greens Country Club, 14415 Greenview Drive in Laurel, to raise funds for their Cooperstown Dream project.

Registration and breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. and a shotgun start at 9 a.m. on Friday.

The cost is $95 per player with a minimum of four players per team and $100 for a tee sponsor. Golfers will enjoy a buffet after their play time.
