Tuesday Roundup: Strong fourth quarter lifts Admirals

Junior attack Stewart D'Ambrogi passed to sophomore attack Alex Cramer, who put home the eventual winning goal on the fast break for the Severn boys lacrosse team in its come-from-behind, 6-4 win over St. Stephen-St. Agnes at Washington College last night.
Cramer scored two goals and D'Ambrogi added another assist for the Admirals (2-0), who outscored its opponent 3-0 in the fourth quarter.

Junior attack Zack Swerdloff added a goal and two assists, and junior midfielder John Gren scored two goals and had seven ground balls in a strong overall effort.

ST. MARY'S 10, ST. MARY'S RYKEN 2: The trio of senior attackers Matt Bell, Matt Lamon and Jake Leddy combined for eight goals to lead the Saints to their fourth straight victory

Bell tallied four goals, while Lamon and Leddy each had two. Lamon also added two assists to help keep the host Saints undefeated.

JOHN CARROLL 11, KEY SCHOOL 4: Junior midfielder Brendan Schrader scored twice, but the Obezags fell to host John Carroll. Senior midfielder Theo Anthony and his brother, sophomore midfielder Isaac, each netted a goal, and junior midfielder Jake Maldonado recorded an assist.

TOWSON CATHOLIC 7, KEY 4: Despite a two-run third-inning home run by sophomore Harrison Barton and two runs batted in from junior Kerry Joyce, Key, a second-year program, dropped its inaugural MIAA C conference game.

SOFTBALL

SPALDING 4, SETON KEOUGH 1: Junior pitcher Elaine Nescio made Spalding's opening day one to remember, as she spun a gem, striking out 12 and only allowing three hits in seven innings of work.

Senior second baseman Meghan Van Meter was 2-for-3 with a run scored, and freshman third baseman Emily Weiman and junior left fielder Jenn Rindone each drove in a run for the Cavaliers (1-0).

MARYVALE PREP 2, ST. MARY'S 0: Saints senior pitcher Caroline Klein tossed a one-hitter and struck out 10, but Maryvale Prep was able to push across two runs on an RBI triple and a passed ball to defeat visiting St. Mary's in the Saints' season opener.

Junior catch Molly Geisen had two of the Saints' four hits, including a triple.

CATHOLIC 11, AACS 6: Sophomore rightfielder Marissa Minor had three hits and an RBI, and sophomore pitcher Kiersten Waltz struck out 10, but the Eagles couldn't hang on in the final two innings, and fell in their season opener at Randazzo Field.

Senior centerfielder Hillary Thompson and junior shortstop Michelle Dishop each had two hits for AACS.

GOLF

STS. PETER AND PAUL 19 1/2, ST. MARY'S 1 1/2: Senior John Ruttam notched a point and a half for St. Mary's in its first match of the season, but the Saints fell to Saints Peter and Paul at Hunter's Oak.
